Advising the Volunteer Experience with the UT Academic Plan: Experience Learning, Career Exploration, and Self-Exploration.

Advising Policy

All engineering students are required to be advised every semester until they have earned thirty (30) credits.

After earning 30 credits, nuclear engineering students, in good standing, are required to meet with the NE advisor yearly. Students are to be advised in either the fall or spring semesters, depending on the student ID number. Even ID numbers are advised in the fall, before spring registration and odd ID numbers are advised in the spring, before summer or fall registration. It is the responsibility of the student to schedule these meetings, when prompted by e-mail from the advisor.

Instructions for Advising Appointments

  1. Select and follow the curriculum track based on your catalog year.
  2. Use the information from your DARS report and write required courses on the Academic Plan Sheet for the next two semesters. Indicate any classes for which you received a grade of C- or lower.
  3. Make an appointment with the advisor through Vol Academic Connect (Navigate), available via MyUTK. Bring your academic plan and DARS report with you to the meeting.

Additional Information

Students are required to maintain a cumulative grade point of at least 2.0 in all nuclear engineering courses taken at UT Knoxville used to satisfy graduation requirements. No more than 4 credit hours of nuclear engineering courses in which a C- or lower is the highest grade earned may be counted toward graduation. This is in addition to the university’s graduation requirements.
