NCRP Elects Heilbronn to Join its Council of Experts

Lawrence HeilbronnLawrence Heilbronn, John D. Tickle Associate Professor in Nuclear Engineering, was recently elected to the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP).

“It’s an honor to be elected to the NCRP,” said Heilbronn. “I look forward to serving the nation and working with the leading experts in radiation protection and measurements as we help provide guidance on the many issues related to radiation that affect our society.”

Heilbronn joins experts across many fields related to radiation protection and measurements who provide analysis and recommendations for the nation regarding to all aspects of radiation protection. His colleagues on the council include physicists, biologists, epidemiologists, medical physicists, health physicists, and more.

“I believe this experience will have a positive impact for our students, as well, allowing me to further refine my courses to provide the critical knowledge they need to succeed as professionals upon graduation,” Heilbronn said.

The NCRP’s mission is to support radiation protection by providing independent scientific analysis, information, and recommendations that represent the consensus of leading scientists.
