Graduate Research Assistant Bailey Bertrand has been awarded the October 2022 Student Service Award. While pursuing his doctorate at UT, Bertrand works with the Wirth Research Group under the direction of UT-ORNL Governor’s Chair for Computational Nuclear Engineering Brian Wirth, as well as being an intern with UCOR in instrumentation and controls.
“Bailey Bertrand has been an excellent Primary Tutor for our department, often going out of his way to structure his schedule around the needs of the students,” said the selection committee. “Bailey always steps up to a challenge with professionalism and respectability. Not only because of his sincere attitude but also his willingness to assists others, Bailey effectively contributes to and amplifies the overall community of the Department of Nuclear Engineering.”
Bertrand was happy to have been selected, and quick to praise everything and everyone within the department.
“I am honored to receive this award, and I thank all of the friends and staff that have supported me during my college career,” he said. “My time here at UT has been fantastic, and the continuation of my journey into graduate school will add another layer to the excitement. I look forward to sharing this experience with my peers and professors in the near future. I thoroughly believe it would be impossible to find another academic environment as enjoyable, enthusiastic, and supportive as the Department of Nuclear Engineering at UT.”
