Undergraduate Admissions

Standardized test scores are optional for the 2022 application. Students can select to include their ACT or SAT scores as part of their application.

Admissions criteria is based on several performance criteria, including completion of core academic subjects, GPA scores on these subjects, and standardized test (SAT or ACT) scores, if submitted. Students who may not meet the test-score or test-optional criteria will be holistically reviewed for admission into TCE. Visit TCE’s Undergraduate Admission Requirements page for more details.

Note that the UT System has decided that all campuses, including UT Knoxville, will now require standardized tests (ACT/SAT) for first-year applicants applying to attend UT in Fall 2023. Please note, there is no impact to Fall 2022 entering students. The admissions website will continue to be updated to reflect the updated test policy.
