Khalid Hattar was named a 2025 ASM International Fellow for groundbreaking technical advances in the fields of in-situ ion irradiation electron microscopy.

Associate Professor Khalid Hattar, director of the Tennessee Ion Beam Laboratory, coordinated work with international teams to install a first-ever advanced lens for an electron microscope at Sandia National Laboratories.

With backing from the US Department of Energy, five NE faculty will be pursuing innovative projects to improve nuclear power plant design and operation.
