The American Nuclear Society chapter at the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez invited guests from the Department of Nuclear Engineering at UT and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) to speak about nuclear engineering for their virtual Nuclear Science Week event.

Professor Richard Wood and nuclear engineering alumnus T. Jay Harrison (BS ’02, MS ’04, PhD ’15), who is the advanced nuclear system safety and licensing group leader at ORNL, spoke about the benefits of nuclear engineering, specifically why it is important for space exploration.

The fun, educational video is in interview style and features puppets that ask questions for the audience. The Nuclear Science Week series is meant to appeal to younger audiences to introduce them to the world of nuclear science.
