Nuclear Faculty Earn Recognition Throughout the Spring

Several Nuclear Engineering faculty members were honored with national and internal awards during the spring, displaying the quality of educators and researchers within the department.

Among the highlights:

  • Professor and UCOR Fellow Jason Hayward was honored as the 2025 recipient of the Excellence in Research and Creative Achievement Award from the University of Tennessee Office of the Provost at the spring banquet.
  • NE Assistant Professor Vlad Sobes was honored at the banquet as well, receiving the Professional Promise in Research and Creative Achievement award.
  • Assistant Professor Ivis Chaple Gore was recognized as a rising star in nuclear medicine and molecular engineering through the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging’s “Ones to Watch” program for 2025.
  • Associate Department Head, Professor, and Southern Company Faculty Fellow
    Jamie Coble was honored for her commitment and leadership in the production of the journal Nuclear Technology at the American Nuclear Society Annual Conference June 15-18 in Chicago.
  • Several faculty and staff members were honored during the department’s annual awards banquet in May.
